Unknown camera parameters

Hi and welcome to 3Dsurvey tutorials.

Today we’ll show you how to start processing images without knowing camera parameters. In our case that is a Nexus 5 phone camera.

Go and Load images into 3Dsurvey.

Have a quick look and click Bundle Adjustment to bring the wizard on the screen.

3Dsurvey software always looks for camera parameters such as focal length and sensor width. Only focal length value of 3.97 is found in this case. As for the sensor width we have 2 options:

One is to Google your phone’s camera and set the CCD width value manually. Second option is to simply select ‘Estimate automatically’ and let the software calculate the best possible value.

After you’re finished with Bundle Adjustment, orientate the model based on ground control points or skip orientation and continue with reconstruction of the 3D model.
